Shop around to get the best deal. A franchised dealer that sells both new and used cars is a good source for customers willing to pay top dollar. The dealer saves the late-model trade-ins for resale, while the less desirable vehicles are auctioned or sent to wholesalers. Franchised dealers have repair facilities and often provide warranties. Used car dealers are a good source for older, higher mileage used cars. Some used car dealers do their own financing. If a warranty is offered, see if it is guaranteed by the dealer or by an outside party. Banks and other lending institutions often sell repossessed vehicles.

The vehicle was completely stripped back and renovated, new windscreen, cabriolet hood and Speedster humps were installed, the interior was also upgraded to Speedster specifications. The turbo inter-cooler was relocated to the front of the car allowing for a flat engine lid to complete the conversion.

It felt slow to me, but on top of hard-packed snow it just cruised. I had the chance to ride the first snow bike that Erik ever made. That Peacock Groove bike was a hoot to ride around through the Minneapolis autumn leaves, and I understood what a game changer a bike like that would be for a cyclist who had to endure a midwest winter. Now I have to admit that neither of these bikes were even close to being the first fat bikes.
Just a judgement call on our part.

Classic Super Bikes Fleet, Hampshire. Restored and rebuilt by an experienced marque specialist in Sweden and still requiring some running in, it’s excellent in all regards except for the left silencer which has been damaged by a battery acid leak. Still awaiting workshop appraisal here, after which a video will be added, but we are reliably assured it runs faultlessly and the restoration work looks to be of a high standard.
Matching numbers machine with all the Swedish documents in order so if it sells in the UK you’ll be the first owner and we’ll help with the process so it’ll be trouble-free. Recently fettled to perfection and it shows: These are rare models of course and this example is even rarer in that it not only looks good but is a joy to ride. This remarkably original late model S has a lovely history to go with it’s excellent condition inside and out.
The document file includes a Silk Motorcycles invoice for the rare Churchgate Mouldings fairing which was factory-fitted from new, along with the engine bars. We have only seen one other Silk here with this fairing on and it’s recognisable by the bespoke fittings and tidy finish. A collection of old MOTs support the low mileage and the four former keepers are recorded on old V5 and V5C documents.
The fuel tank paintwork at the front on top has cracked and been repaired to a poor standard with a S sticker added to hide the imperfection and another sticker has been added to the tail fairing, presumably to hide a mark too. There is an invoice for a rear rack from Silk so maybe this marked the tail fairing? It’s not fitted now so we’re just guessing.
The pin-stripes and paintwork are all original and in excellent condition may have been lacquered since new so we would be reluctant to re-paint the whole thing but a bit of very sympathetic professional repair and re-touching would restore complete originality and lift condition overall to nearly concours with a bit of detailing.
Please read the Important Information for Buyers section on the main “Bottles For Sale” page for complete buyer information. All are approximately 8″ tall, smooth base with the embossing S. These sauce bottles were acquired to illustrate the food bottles section of my Historic Bottle Website. Here is a portion of the write-up from that website which more fully describes these: FOR on the base. These bottles have tooled double ring finishes with the upper portion distinctly larger than the lower portion and were blown in a cup-base mold which likely had air venting although evidence of air venting is lost in the heavily decorated body styling – all attributes indicating manufacture between the s and early s.

How to Identify Vintage Hubcaps by Christopher Jackson The automotive wheel cover is fast becoming extinct in these days of handsomely cast wheels and steel-wheel powder coating. The addition of a heavy metal or plastic cover to protect and beautify a car’s wheels just isn’t used any more. Collectible Classics As a result of the shift in design to decorative rims, the obsolete wheel cover has increased in collector appeal. They’re affordable souvenirs for cars that might be too expensive to own, and if you are lucky, they can be found by the side of the road.
The chrome decorations tend to turn up in piles at garage sales and antique stores, as well. The term hubcap actually refers to a smaller metal cap that covers the end of the axle — the hub — and keeps the wheel-bearing grease in place on antique cars. Early manufacturers added decoration to the hubcap and it evolved over time into the wheel cover.
Name That Hubcap Without the car it came from to provide context, it can be a challenge to identify a wheel cover, even for a seasoned car-spotter. It’s rare that a vehicle’s model name appears on the hubcap, and throughout the s, s and s, the same hubcap could often be found on several different vehicles of the same make. Still, there are some ways to figure out where a stray hubcap came from. What’s It Made Of? Heavy, chromed cast iron generally signifies a hubcap dating to the s or earlier.
Stamped-steel hubcaps became popular in the s on American cars, and this trend continued for the next two decades.

Larger Image The name says it all – the top of the Schwinn line. Schwinn today is part of Pacific Cycle. While Schwinn often had a reputation for building heavy bikes for kids, the Paramount line had a reputation for finely crafted, relatively light road bikes. That is obviously a great price. The very nice woman selling it was good natured about the low price.
The bike had belonged to her uncle who no longer used it.

It is in fantastic condition for its age, but even so, there are some elements of older technology on this bike that kind of gave me the willies today as I set out to take the bike on its first test ride. The bike has Westwood style steel rims, color matched to the frame along the spoke bed area, and with chrome for the braking surface. Westwood rims are usually found on bikes which use rod brakes. Those brakes pull up on the brake pads to strike the rim on the surface near the spoke bed area, rather than on the narrow, rounder sidewall area.
This Griffon, however, has caliper brakes which push the pads horizontally toward the rim. Even after sanding the pads using a small round file, I knew from testing the brakes on the stand that they would not be effective at stopping the bike, at least not very quickly. So, I put the old pads back on and developed a plan. Another skill is knowing in the back of your mind where every single flat, empty parking lot can be found on a Sunday afternoon — these are lures for practicing slow speed maneuvers, which is a must for motorcyclists who take safety seriously.
The latter skill came in handy today. I first drove the bike to my nearby huge empty parking lot.

It is commonly accepted that in BC, at the time of the unification, Ch’in introduced the Pan pronounced “Ban” Liang coinage, discontinuing knife and spade coinage. This is by no means certain and we find it difficult to accept, believing the coinage of this period is more complex and knife and spade coinage was phased out gradually. This series is difficult to classify, with specimens occurring at weights from 2 to 18 grams but rarely over 12 grams , and diameters from 14 to over 34 mm.
Having examined a number of Pan Liang hoards, we found most specimens within a single hoard will be of uniform diameter but the weight can vary significantly. This had lead us to believe the coins diameter is the important factor in determining the period or issue. Unfortunately, not enough dateable hoard or archeological evidence currently exists to work out the exact classification of the Pan Liang series, but the Records of Han provide a clue, stating that heavy Pan Liang were cast until about BC.
We believe this refers to the larger specimens over 30 mm which range between 6 and 12 grams but averaging 7 to 8 grams or 15 shu. This could make the earliest issues contemporaries of the Ming-Huo Round Coin Series , but since they were cast to the heavy standard down to BC, it may not be possible to differentiate between the Zhou, Ch’in and early Han dynasty issues.
